Pickled Peppers

Pickled peppers are a delicious and versatile condiment that can be enjoyed on their own, as part of a meal, or even used in cooking. They are made by submerging peppers in a mixture of vinegar, water, salt, and spices. This process preserves the peppers and gives them a briny, tangy flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of peppers (any variety)
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • Optional spices: garlic cloves, dill seeds, peppercorns, bay leaves

Instructions:

  1. Wash the peppers and remove the stems and seeds.
  2. In a large jar, combine the vinegar, water, salt, sugar, and any optional spices.
  3. Pack the peppers into the jar, leaving about 1 inch of headspace at the top.
  4. Pour the pickling liquid over the peppers, making sure they are completely submerged.
  5. Seal the jar tightly and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.

Tips:

  • For a spicier pickle, use hotter peppers or leave the seeds in.
  • For a milder pickle, remove the seeds and ribs from the peppers.
  • You can also add other vegetables to the jar, such as onions, carrots, or cucumbers.
  • Pickled peppers will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
